Frequently Asked Questions

My child has been diagnosed with a learning disability. Can you provide support?

YES! Our team is highly experienced in working with students diagnosed with ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, processing disorders and other exceptionalities that impact learning. We take pride in being able to support these students in overcoming the unique challenges they face in the classroom.

Do you provide in-home support?

No. Since most sessions occur after school, it is important that we maximize the short time available to meet with students. Some learning specialists offer in-person support at their home offices and others are available to meet at local libraries, however Zoom is always an option, and many students actually prefer working virtually.

Can my child really learn over Zoom?

YES! Although virtual sessions are not appropriate for all learners or situations, in many cases, it is an effective and interactive method of providing instruction. Learning specialists can engage with students using virtual manipulatives and whiteboards and annotate directly on documents that are shared on the screen. Zoom sessions allow students to work in the comfort of their own homes and provide flexibility for those with busy extracurricular schedules.

Do you provide homeschool support?

YES! We can supplement the instruction that students receive through FLVS or other home-based programs, as well as provide content-area support for students needing remediation and reinforcement of skills. Our learning specialists are familiar with a wide variety of curricula and educational platforms, and have experience working with students in all academic settings.

Are weekend sessions available?

Each provider has varying availability. We attempt to schedule most sessions Monday through Friday when possible, however we do try to accommodate each family’s needs and schedules.

Can you communicate with my child’s teachers?
Absolutely! We are happy to collaborate and correspond with classroom teachers, school-based support staff and private providers such as speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, and psychologists once the authorization form has been signed. We believe that a team-based approach is key to your child’s success!

Do you accept government credits or vouchers?

Families that qualify for financial support through governmental programs such as Step Up may be eligible to apply those funds toward tutorial services, however, families are responsible for obtaining pre-authorization and submitting all required paperwork in order to receive reimbursement. Direct payment for each session must be remitted to Strive via Venmo, Zelle, credit card, cash, or check at the time of service.
